Carrie Roth has been teaching since 2001 in the West Bloomfield School District. She began her teaching career as a guest teacher at Roosevelt Elementary School and stayed there until 2023. Carrie than took a position in the gifted and talented program that she then created a model of for the general education population at Roosevelt. She then taught fifth grade for five years as the school transitioned to becoming the STEAM hub for the district before taking the position as the school librarian. While in this position she took the lead on STEAM for the school and was given the task to take a second grade initiative, the Michigan Design Prize. And get the whole school involved! This was the highlight of her elementary career. Currently Carrie teaches STEAM and Tech at the West Bloomfield Middle School, and looks forward to bringing the same passion to her new building!
Carrie graduated from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She then attended Wayne State University to earn her Masters of Library and Information Science. While working with the Galileo Teacher Leader Academy, Carrie also completed her Education Specialist Degree from Oakland University.
Carrie and her family loves road tripping, especially to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. We love living and exploring the lakes and beaches across Michigan with our twin daughters and dog Bart! Coming from a family full of teachers and engineers Carrie is thrilled to have found a career where she can follow in the path of both of her parents. Carrie is thrilled to continue to work with students as they explore career paths that allow them to explore their creativity, follow their passions, and bring their creativity to life! She is proud to be a part of the Michigan Design Council as it continues to grow and provide amazing opportunities to Michigan students!
